SKR builds the new Vården i siffror on Datastory

Vården i siffror (www.vardenisiffror.se) gathers indicators from national quality registries, regional data collections and government agencies including the National Board of Health and Welfare, the Public Health Agency of Sweden and Statistics Sweden. SKR runs and develops the service on behalf of the regions working together. The new version is built entirely on the Datastory platform.

“We wanted a platform that combines AI, data modeling and visualization in a way that's easy to use. With Datastory, we build pages with advanced visualizations ourselves and publish them on the web,” says Camilla Eriksson, officer for Vården i siffror at SKR.

One data model, multiple formats

Indicators, time series, taxonomies and organizational levels are modeled once in the platform's Data Manager. Every view then reads from that same model. When an indicator is updated, the change flows through to overviews, charts, reports and exports at the same time.

This makes it possible to present the same data to different audiences without maintaining parallel versions. Visitors can enter by, for example, data source, region, hospital or topic to find ready-made comparisons and trends over time.

For their own analysis, the chart tool lets users explore indicators in more depth with a range of settings, including comparisons between regions and between men and women.

Built-in AI support

Datastory's built-in AI suggests headlines and draft visualizations based on the underlying data model. The editorial team adjusts and reviews everything before publication.
